Here. Where love’s melody hums gently in the background, where the soft trickle of the fountain and the sounds of happy laughter intertwine with the music of the day.
Jacquelyn and Emma’s Unique Indianapolis Wedding wasn’t just a celebration—it was a celebration of their love, filled with intentional moments, personal touches, and the kind of energy that makes your heart dance. From the early morning ceremony to the last joyful beat at their reception, their day was full of magic.
Jacquelyn and Emma approached their wedding day with one clear goal above all: to get married. Every decision was rooted in that simple but powerful intention, which kept them focused on what truly mattered—each other. When little things didn’t go as planned, they didn’t let it faze them. The joy of their day was too big to be overshadowed.
As a couple who worked hard for their love story, they took advantage of the freedom that came with it, choosing traditions that felt right for them and skipping the ones that didn’t.
They filled their day with moments that were deeply personal, creating an experience that was as unique as their relationship. Their Indianapolis wedding was not only a celebration of their love but also a reflection of who they are.
Their ceremony took place at Late Harvest Kitchen, one of their favorite spots in Indianapolis. Holding a morning ceremony was purposeful—it was the only way they could have the restaurant to themselves.
While Emma waited outside at the hotel before heading to the ceremony, a tiny butterfly landed on her bouquet. It was such a special moment!
The gentle sound of the fountain behind them set a serene tone as they exchanged vows, while the air was filled with the sounds of happy crying and laughter from their closest loved ones.
One of the most memorable parts of this Indianapolis wedding ceremony was when they passed their wedding rings, strung on a pearl necklace made by Emma’s brother, around to their guests. Each person took a moment to bless the rings, adding a layer of love and intention that felt incredibly significant.
They asked guests to join in a “Congregational Vow,” a collective promise to support their marriage through and through. This level of involvement from their guests gave the ceremony a depth that resonated with everyone present.
After the ceremony and brunch, we made our way to the stunning grounds of the Indianapolis Museum of Art (IMA) for bridal portraits.
The gardens and architecture provided a dreamy backdrop as Jacquelyn and Emma walked through the greenery. It was a moment of stillness amidst the energy of the day, where they could simply be together.
When it came to the reception for this Indianapolis wedding, Jacquelyn and Emma’s love for music and dancing took center stage—literally. They found the perfect venue, The Foxhole at Hotel at Tango Distillery, in the historic Fountain Square neighborhood. Their search for the ideal spot had been challenging, but stumbling upon this venue felt like fate. Its warmth and character the perfect match for the vibe they wanted: a celebration that felt like them.
Instead of a traditional cocktail hour, Jacquelyn and Emma greeted their guests as they arrived. They didn’t stop there! The couple designed a people scavenger hunt bingo that had their guests mingling and getting to know each other. The prizes? Pieces of art from the brunch, the book Wildflowers (the very same book Jacquelyn proposed with), and a $100 bill for the blackout winner. It was such a fun way to break the ice and get everyone talking.
The Bluewater Kings Band absolutely rocked the night, bringing everyone to the dance floor. Jacquelyn and Emma danced and sang their hearts out, their love for music woven into every note that filled the air.
It wasn’t just the music that made the reception memorable; it was the attention to detail that Jacquelyn and Emma put into every aspect of the evening. The table decorations, for instance, weren’t just placeholders—they were vinyl record holders, filled with albums from their favorite artists. Even the wildflowers, picked by the brides and their family, added a personal touch that made the day feel deeply connected to their roots.
The energy of the night was infectious. It was clear that dancing wasn’t just something Jacquelyn and Emma enjoyed—it was something they lived for. Their first dance, set to Brandi Carlile, was made up on the spot, and yet it felt like something they’d been rehearsing for years. Every moment on the dance floor was a reflection of their love—spontaneous, joyful, and completely them.
For Emma’s family dance, it started out just Emma and her father. A little ways into the song, Emma’s mom retrieved Jacquelyn for her to join in and dance with Emma’s mom, and then eventually Emma’s dad as well. Finally, Emma’s brothers joined the floor, the whole family welcoming Jacquelyn into their family. Jacquelyn had no idea this was going to happen!
There is an ancient fossil that can be found on Emma’s family’s property. Each of her family members wear one around their neck or have one in their possession. It symbolizes being a “Hatcher”. During Emma’s dad’s toast, he had Jacquelyn stand up and Emma’s mom placed one of those fossils around her neck, once again representing that she has joined and is welcomed into the family.
I first met Emma and Jacquelyn on the dance floor of another Indianapolis wedding I was shooting. Emma was a bridesmaid, and Jacquelyn was her +1. Watching them dance together that night, I was instantly struck by the way they moved, how they looked at each other—it was clear they were deeply in love. From that moment, I fell in love with their love story.
Capturing their wedding was more than just a job—it was an absolute honor. As can be seen, Their love for each other, for their friends and family, and for life itself is infectious. They are the kind of people you want to be around, and their wedding day was the perfect reflection of the beautiful life they’re building together.
If you’re planning an Indianapolis Wedding and are looking for someone to capture the love, joy, and uniqueness of your day, I’d love to be a part of it. Weddings like Jacquelyn and Emma’s remind me why I love what I do! Documenting love stories as beautiful as theirs is a true honor.
Stay Sweet,
Caroline
